Dubai affirms its position as one of the world's open cities post-pandemic

The ability to provide one of the world’s safest environments and the gathering pace of its economic growth have made Dubai a preferred international destination for business, tourism and events.

According to a report, Dubai welcomed almost four million international overnight visitors between January and March 2022, increasing by 214 percent compared to last year, reaffirming its position as the first-choice destination for global travelers. With 82 percent, the city also ranked No.1 globally in hotel occupancy in the first quarter of 2022.

Dubai is a preferred destination for international travelers

Dubai International (DXB) continued to be the world's busiest airport by international passenger numbers for the eighth consecutive year, clocking 29.1 million in annual traffic in 2021. For the second consecutive quarter in 2022, the number of passengers passing through the emirate's airports exceeded 10 million. Just in March of this year, Dubai International Airport saw 5.5 million travelers.

Earlier this year, Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice 2022 report named Dubai as the world’s most popular travel destination. The country is selected as the No.1 destination for ‘City Lovers’ and No. 4 destination for ‘Food Lovers’, promoting the city’s image for global travelers.

The vast international diversity of its visitors also demonstrates Dubai’s growing status as a city that bridges global markets and cultures.
